“The EPPF armed struggle is an act of self-defense exercised by the Ethiopian people against the current illegal Ethiopian regime of Meles Zenawi. The current EPRDF dictatorial regime if it continues to stay in power would lead to the disintegration of our nation.
The EPPF armed resistance targets the government's coercive machinery, not innocent civilians.
EPPF has an unswerving anti terrorism stand and opposes terrorism as means of struggle to achieve the rights of the Ethiopian people”.
EPPF rejects the terrorism accusation against it.
23rd February 2007
The Ethiopian People ’s Patriotic Front (EPPF) totally rejects the terrorism accusation against our organization by the current illegal EPRDF dictatorial regime in Ethiopia. As stated in our mission statement “The EPPF armed struggle is an act of self-defense exercised by the Ethiopian people against the current illegal Ethiopian regime of Meles Zenawi.
On the contrary, the only group in Ethiopia, whom are currently engaged in violating the Ethiopian people ’s human rights, whom are killing, torturing, mass imprisoning and harassing the Ethiopian people, whom are suppressing the Ethiopian freedom of speech, whom have stolen the Ethiopian peoples votes, whom are standing between Ethiopians and their democracy, the only group whom have been repeatedly warned by the world leaders and world human rights organizations to stop it ’s atrocities against the Ethiopian people is the EPRDF illegal dictatorial egime of Meles Zenawi, now in power against the will of the Ethiopian People.
Let alone the Ethiopian people, the entire world knows the naturally ingrained malice character of the Meles Zenawi regime. Now, using the pretext of terrorism, the current statement by the regime, indicates to us their plan to intensify their repression on the population at large and further crash all political opposition in the country.
We would like to reassure the Ethiopian people that EPPF will intensify and pursue the struggle for freedom and democracy, until our country is free from dictatorial rule and our people receive a truly democratic governance that they deserve.
